Kapa’au Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital located in North Kohala on the Big Island of Hawai’i. We have been providing Complimentary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine for the animals of Hawai’i since 1998.

Dr Robin M. Woodley, D.V.M., M.S.

My life was changed forever when a wonderful veterinarian treated my rescue dog while I was in college. It was then that I decided to make veterinary medicine my career.

I went on to graduate from Michigan State University Veterinary Medical School with honors in 1976. In 1983, I received a Master’s Degree in Immunology from the University of California at San Francisco, and was board certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 1991.

Frustrated with the results of western medicine for chronic illnesses, I studied with Dr. Richard Pitcairn in Professional and Advanced Veterinary Homeopathy and became certified in acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.

Alternative medicine has allowed me to greatly extend the range of conditions I can treat and to restore balance to my patients’ lives. I am currently studying for a master’s degree in Chinese herbology with Dr. Xie at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.

I relax by swimming in the ocean with my husband and dogs, and watching movies with my cats.

My life’s desire to work with animals, help people and live and work in my home town of North Kohala has lead me to work in the field of alternative veterinary medicine.

After working in the hospitality industry for 20+ years it is very rewarding to bring my 4-H experiences and customer care skills to the community I know and love. Anticipating our client’s needs, taking appointments and client reports, being sure that our over the counter products and foods are available and being a liaison between the patient, client and doctor are just some of the things I do at Kapa’au Veterinary Center.

My home consists of a daughter, Lauren, and many pets; Rocky, Jadeca, Kamalani, Ikaika, Precious, Lola and Parker just to name a few.

KATHY’s love of animals and the outdoors led her into the field of biology and agriculture, from the University of Hawaii at Hilo (her hometown) to the University of Florida.

Back in Hawaii as a utilities chemist, Kathy rescued, rehabilitated and adopted over 30 feral cats and numerous stray dogs, reuniting K-9 pets with their owners and adopting 10 in the process.

At Kapa’au Veterinary Center she coordinates our patient care and monitors anesthetic and surgical procedures. It’s Kathy’s friendly voice checking on your pet’s progress and taking reports on chronic cases.

Her current menagerie includes 6 cats, 3 dogs, 6 goats, over 100 turtles and tortoises, and 1 very patient, animal-loving husband.

RACHEL
Being a part of Dr. Woodley’s holistic
veterinary practice since 2002 has been a childhood dream come true. I feel very lucky to get to incorporate and expand upon so many of my main interests such as plants, natural remedies and animal welfare. I truly treasure all the relationships I’ve been a part of over the years and really love it when families, especially children get involved with their pets care.

As a Veterinary Assistant and certified TTouch practitioner, I strive to ensure that the experience is as safe and stress free as possible for everyone. Through TTouch I help to soothe and calm our patients, both in the exam room and before and after surgery.

My current focus is raising my daughter Hoku and enjoying time with our 2 dogs and 3 cats.
