Welcome to Kapa’au Veterinary Center.

We are a Complementary and Alternative Veterinary practice, serving the community of North Kohala and the Big Island.

Our Kuleana is to restore health and balance to our animal population through our alternative medical services, through informing and educating our community, and through restoring the balance of health for animals as individuals, their place in their species, and their relationship with owners or guardians.

We do this through the principles of Kokua, Malama, and Pono.

We embrace the concept of life as vital energy, or Qi, the life force that flows through all living things.

This ancient concept is recognized by all the cultures of the world, and we use the ideas described through the medical systems of homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the energy moving concepts of Healing Touch, Reiki, Tellington Touch, Tui Na, and Qi Gong to aid and assist the medical treatments.

Ancient Chinese medicine describes illness as arising from a blockage in the flow of life force through a living thing.

There are six main factors that block Qi: emotional, nutritional, environmental, changing weather and seasons, wrong medication, and injury.

The correct cause of the blockage must be identified and the correct energetic treatment given.

We adhere to the Hawaiian values of aiding, caretaking and taking responsibility to do the right thing for every creature under our care.
